<p>It all depends on what you do with and after your prayer or your punditry. One can be just as docile after offering a few opinions (which <a rel="external" href="http://talkislam.info/2008/08/07/against-opinion/">may not be that valuable anyway</a>) as one can after praying for &#8216;external&#8217; intervention.</p>
<p>At a guess I would say a lot religious traditions probably encourage some action to accompany a prayer. So praying for world peace will probably involve the religious individual concerned <a href="http://www.economist.com/world/international/displaystory.cfm?story_id=11670911" target="_blank">putting him or herself in the mix</a>.</p>
