    Idle threat/thug life watch.

Al Qaeda on the Arabian Peninsula is marketing a new line of attacks to the ‘mujahid’ in the West. Targets include “secular media figures and writers who mock the orders of religion and those who promote and justify (the actions) of infidel rulers.”

Muslim writers who prefer a secular pluralistic polity – which includes at least some of us who write for this blog – or who oppose indiscriminate violence (against our home countries or anywhere else) would probably be included in one of those definitions.

The writer, Abu Basir Nasser al-Wahayshi, shows what a thoughtful guy he is as he recommends a very particular and selective form of violence for us:

“Knives are a good remedy for some and … (for others) severe beating until they are confined to bed or lose one of their senses,” added the militant leader.

Knives and baseball bats – I guess for Al Qaeda this is an example of restraint…

    Photobucket

The still shot above is from a Youtube short video for a group called Muslims for Secular Democracy that will be holding a counter-demonstration on Oct. 31st against Al Muhajiroun.

Anjem Choudary et al will call for the abolition of democracy in Britain and the imposition of Shariah Law on all.

Shaaz Mahboob, vice-chair of British Muslims for Secular Democracy says:

Our counter-demonstration is based on our belief in, and commitment to, those liberal values that define the British state, including legal and constitutional equality for all, equal rights for women and minorities, and religious freedom, including the right to be free of faith.

Watch the video. It really is a quite funny parody of the Al Muhajiroun demonstrations, and the way they are covered in the Islamophobic blogosphere (scary black and white!).
