You may have to hold your nose and read the following, but it looks like the Decent Left have unearthed some unfortunate information about one of the individuals used in the Inspired by Muhammad marketing campaign:
Sunny has posted a response, the general spirit of which may be true, but he doesn’t note that the Islamic Human Right Commission (IHRC) is a home for British-based Khomienists (in the UK these used to include Sunnis as well as Shias). The IHRC just isn’t a credible human rights organisation and you have to either very naive, or agree with its political aims, to be working with it for so long.
The Inspired by Muhammad campaign itself is being run by a former MTV presenter and Muslim convert Kristiane Backer. From a quick scan of Backer’s public quotes about Islam and her conversion they seem largely apolitical.

The IHRC is home to the Islamophobe of the Year award, which cannot tell the difference between the raving loonies and those ardent secularists (like Polly Toynbee) who sometimes inadvertantly lip synch along to some of the nasties. It sort of sums up the IHRC for me — they’re culturally illiterate ideologues rather than horrids.
