And I here I was thinking only Muslims are stupid enough to become brainwashed by extremist preachers:

The collapse of the Dutch government over The Netherlands’ role in Afghanistan is being seen by some pundits as a chance for Geert Wilders to enter a future coalition government.

Daniel Pipes steps out of the closet… as an Islamophobe.
Eli Clifton writes that Pipes threw over any shred of remaining credibility he may have had as a serious commentator on Mideast affairs with his latest column in National Review about Geert Wilders.
For years, Pipes has denied accusations that his columns have espoused Islamophobic rhetoric, but his recent column in the National Review goes out of its way not just to endorse Geert Wilders, but also to explicitly praise anti-Muslim statements made by Wilders.
In the column, Pipes admires Wilders for asserting that ‘Islam is the problem, not just a virulent version of it called Islamism.’

Dutch remember filmmaker Theo van Gogh, murdered by a Muslim fanatic 5 years ago.
Takeaway quote: “Many Dutch say the Van Gogh murder helped the rise of Geert Wilders, an anti-immigrant politician whose party leads in recent polls.”
The killing also turned an ill-tempered, grouchy crank into a martyr.

Geert Aleert in Philadelphia…
Muslims and Jews go at it in Phily… Geert Wilder is brought in as a mascot for Islamophobia. Muslim Student Union and David Horowitz Center should both be ashamed for “going there.”
The Temple Muslim Students Association is attempting to shut down the scheduled appearance of Geert Wilders on Oct. 20. As part of its Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, and its campaign to Stop the Campus War Against Israel and the Jews, the David Horowitz Freedom Center is sponsoring appearances by Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders at Temple and Columbia universities (Oct. 20 and 21). The Muslim Students Association has issued a statement condemning the event and calling on the Temple Administration to close it down.

via @kaitfoley, Temple University rejects Geert Wilders. The post at Loonwatch is superb; I wish I still hadthe energy to defend our beliefs like they do instead of feeling defeated.

Super-proggy Taj “don’t call me a Qadiani” Hargey has challenged arch-Islamophobe Geert Wilders to a public debate – and not for the first time, or at least that’s what he claims in a letter to The Guardian. Not that I would accuse Taj of fibbing, given his propensity to litigate, but does anyone recall his dodgy sojourn to the USA some years ago? Taj signs himself “Imam” in his correspondence – as far as I’m aware, he has a PhD in North African history, not a Dars-i-Nizami. Why not go the whole hog, Taj, and call yourself Maulana? My worry is that, were such debate to take place, Taj would end up saying something like, “Yes, Geert, what you say is probably true for most Muslims, but me and my
Imperial-lackypals here in Oxford are as clean as a hound’s tooth.” -

Provocateur watch.
Tribunal: Geert Wilders can enter Britain. The Asylum and Immigration Tribunal ruled in Wilders’ favor in his appeal of a Home Office decision to bar him from the country, the BBC reported. His lawyer said he would visit Britain next week.
‘Revolution Muslim’ crank aches for publicity, Fox News obliges.

A Kentucky girl is seeking counseling after her class at a Kentucky high school watched a short film that showed beheadings and other violence allegedly committed by Muslims, the student’s father said Tuesday.
Bill Cruey said his daughter Amber, 17, was horrified by images of children being injured and dead bodies interspersed with readings from the Quran while watching the film “Fitna,” made by the anti-Islam and anti-immigration Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders.
….Pulaski County Superintendent Tim Eaton said Tuesday that the teacher’s intent was to commemorate the Sept. 11 terror attacks and discuss the dangers of extremism — “not only of Muslims but other viewpoints, too.”
“The intent of the lesson and discussion was very appropriate,” Eaton said. “However, the teacher’s choice of the clip was not appropriate, and that’s been dealt with.

Apparently, Geert Wilders wants to impose a tax or a fine on Muslim women for wearing a hijab.
These sorts of measures show that anti-Muslim bigots are not only racist, but also misogynistic: the target for their hatred is almost always Muslim women.

Quick, be very frightened! Geert Wilders is due to make a second film demonising Muslims. I was so outraged by the first that I nearly fell asleep watching it. Hollywood doesn’t beckon, Geert.

Geert Wilders is given a platform in the Boston Globe by columnist Jeff Jacoby.
Jacoby and Wilders agree in Q and A that Third Jihad narrator M Zudhi Jasser is the preferred Muslim of the 21st century.
Jacoby, Muslims may recall, was a participant in the effort that was spearheaded by The David Project (“specializes in creating malicious anti-Arab, anti-African and Islamophobic propaganda”) to prevent Boston Muslims from building a mosque in that city by running an aggressive Islamophobic campaign against prominent Muslims involved with the effort to build the mosque, and against Muslims and Islam generally.

Geert Wilders told an audience in the US:
I agree. Especially the bit about ‘every aspect’. And the bit where ‘every aspect’ includes the mass killing and extermination of other peoples. Even where others engaged in such barbarism, they took their technology and beliefs from morally superior Westerners.

Inayat Bunglawala dissents from the MCB’s support for banning Geert Wilders.
And I will add again that this is not about ‘free speech’, per se. But about what can and can’t be criticised in liberal democracies. That which is identified (by the law/state) as ‘religion’ is considered open to criticism, abuse or ridicule. ‘State secrets’ (also defined by the state), on on the other hand, are subject to censorship without much fuss (from most people).

The UK banned then booted out Geert Wilders.
This ban has nothing to do with keeping Muslims happy.
This is all about New Labour’s authoritarianism.
This is the best publicity Wilders (a pseudo martyr for ‘free speech’) will ever have.
And I am not surprised it was a UKIP peer who decided to invite Wilders.

Apparently, the House of Lords cancelled a screening of Geert Wilders’ movie last month.

I weigh in on Wilders and free speech – the double standard of free speech for everyone but muslims is still operative, but that means all restrictions should be dropped, not applied equally. I think it’s a travesty that Wilders is being arrested, but it’s hardly a violation of Western principle.

You know how bad things are among Islamophobes, when one Muslim-hater says he’s better than another because he doesn’t hate the religion as much as the other guy. This is the case with Daniel Pipes who spoke at an Israeli conference of far-right “anti-jihadis” and noted that he’s actually more “moderate” in his anti-Muslim position because Geert Wilders thinks there’s no such thing as a “moderate” Muslim, while he, Pipes, thinks there is.
