Rush Limbaugh in trouble over anti-Semitic comments. Limbaugh said:

To some people, “banker” is code word for Jewish; and guess who Obama is assaulting? He’s assaulting bankers. He’s assaulting money people. And a lot of those people on Wall Street are Jewish. So I wonder if there’s starting to be some buyer’s remorse there?

Abe Foxman of the ADL responded:

Limbaugh’s references to Jews and money in a discussion of Massachusetts politics were offensive and inappropriate. While the age-old stereotype about Jews and money has a long and sordid history, it also remains one of the main pillars of anti-Semitism and is widely accepted by many Americans. His notion that Jews vote based on their religion, rather than on their interests as Americans, plays into the hands of anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists.

A recent poll found that the strongest predictor of prejudice against Muslims is whether a person holds similar feelings about Jews.

‘Talk to Action’ bloggers write an open letter to Elie Wiesel explaining why he shouldn’t be the headline speaker at a Christian Zionist fundraiser.

John Hagee teaches “theological racism,” the idea that the destiny of peoples is based on their biblical genealogy. Hagee claims Jewish souls are different from those of gentiles and that, according to divine plan, Jews have no right to live anywhere on Earth but in Israel. Hagee’s fellow Christian Zionists predict that a coming, divinely ordained paroxysm of anti-Semitic violence, a “second Holocaust,” will be necessary to force all Jews to make aliyah. From the pulpit, pastor Hagee and his fellow Christian Zionists preach their theological racism that risks provoking such a catastrophe.
    ….

How can John Hagee so sincerely and convincingly claim to love Israel while introducing theological racism to a international audience?

The widely taught prophecy narrative of the “fishers and hunters” of Jeremiah 16 helps to explain this paradox. Christian Zionists see themselves as the “fishers” who must befriend and cajole Jews, through emotional and financial support, to fulfill their prophetic destiny. Meanwhile, the “hunters” are overt anti-Semites who will force the remaining Jews of the world to flee to Israel. In order for the Christian Zionist prophecy of the “restoration of Israel” to be fulfilled, there must be a future wave of violent anti-Semitism in which the world will turn on Jews and Israel.

    Geert_Wilders

    Geert Aleert in Philadelphia…

Muslims and Jews go at it in Phily… Geert Wilder is brought in as a mascot for Islamophobia. Muslim Student Union and David Horowitz Center should both be ashamed for “going there.”

The Temple Muslim Students Association is attempting to shut down the scheduled appearance of Geert Wilders on Oct. 20. As part of its Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, and its campaign to Stop the Campus War Against Israel and the Jews, the David Horowitz Freedom Center is sponsoring  appearances by Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders at Temple and Columbia universities (Oct. 20 and 21). The Muslim Students Association has issued a statement condemning the event and calling on the Temple Administration to close it down.

Quentin Tarantino’s new movie “Inglorious Basterds,” described as a Jewish revenge fantasy about the Holocaust, is being criticized by some as anti-Semitic.

Pitt and Roth’s characters “behave like butt-ugly sadists,” Wells writes, while the German soldier, despite cursing out his tormentors as “Jew dogs,” behaves like “a man of honor,” accepting a brutal and painful death rather than ratting out his comrades. In Sammel’s brief performance, Wells says, he depicts the German as “a man of intelligence and perception” with “a certain regular-Joe decency,” while Raine and Donowitz come off as unhinged horror-movie villains. (Wells’ post has engendered a fascinating range of agreement, disagreement and debate.)
    ….

Wells implies, but doesn’t quite say, that the net effect of “Inglourious Basterds” may be anti-Semitic, in its depiction of Jews as deranged, unscrupulous killers.

The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg wrote that he came out of the film

“so hopped up on righteous Jewish violence that I was almost ready to settle the West Bank — and possibly the East Bank,” but then started to feel queasier about it over the ensuing few days.

More on brother Mu-adh’s post on modern science and Islamic teachings: For further reading, he excerpts the writings of one Shaykh Abdal Qadir as-Sufi, that are frankly Jew-baiting and anti-Semitic, full of references to “Jewish control systems” and “Jewish subversion” – and therefore discredited to my mind. See Suhaib Webb writing about the people who take advantage of “the ignorance of some Muslims, and the media machines in order to promote that Islam is a hateful religion” for a fuller rebuttal to this kind of conduct. As Imam Webb points out, “the community of the prophet had KNOWN hypocrites,” and this one is no different (NOTE: Imam Webb is speaking about other people and other subjects. The specific criticism of Shaykh Abdal Qadir as-Sufi here is mine and mine alone.).

I went to visit the web page of Shaykh Abdal Qadir as-Sufi. In his most current post he smears the Palestinians in general and Hamas in particular (for turning Shia, which is contemptuous and dismissive of Shia Muslims in itself) and calls the Chinese “sub-human.” The plight of the Uighurs is a superior concern over the Palestinians in part because ‘they still use an Arabic script.’

In the world outside a terrible crisis has broken and one which must involve the whole world community of Muslims. I refer to the abomination of the murder of Uighur men, women, and children and the destruction of the markets, houses and mosques of the Uighur people. It is time – and I call on our Arab brothers especially – to forget Palestine, that dismal nationalist failure. Hamas have turned Sh’ia and the other group are mired in corruption. Their problem is nothing to the devastating planned annihilation of a great Muslim people, one which still uses an Arabic script.

The Chinese are at war with us and the least action we can perform is to sanction all trade connections with the communist atheist entity. No Muslim business, no Muslim person, no Muslim nation should have any commercial intercourse with the sub-human regime.

Shaykh Abdal Qadir as-Sufi goes on to issue a fatwa:

…goods marked “Made in China” I declare forbidden to all Muslims…

    this jemina khan piece notes:

The next day I set off for the refugee camps close to the Swat valley, where the army is fighting the Taliban. Before I leave, Imran’s chowkidar (watchman) tells me that the newspapers in Pakistan are all funded by Yehudis (Jews). His Kalashnikov-toting commando — it’s the first time Imran has felt the need to have security — nods, adding that there are no Taliban. They are a fabrication by Jews and Hindus to destabilise Pakistan. He adjusts his belt of bullets.

i decided to look at the world values survey. there’s a question which asks for groups you not want to be neighbors will. some people mentioned jews. the 83% of iraqis said they would not want to be neighbors with jews. remember that this is unprompted, people volunteer. some of the other muslim nations are pretty high, but there are some surprises in the list of nations. i decided to look at some of these nations, and break down by religion. the N’s are big. some surprises….

Defining Anti-Semitism. some talk about anti-semitism and anti-israeli stances and their conflation. one guest notes that it is important to observe if critics of israel also criticize other human rights abuses as a marker for whether someone is anti-semitic. seems too simple. white nationalists like david duke fit this template, they only care about colored human rights when jews or “ZOG-controlled entities” are doing the smiting. but most muslims and arabs just care more about muslim and arab lives, as opposed to being against jewish lives as such. my personal experience is non-muslim leftists who have a fixation on the israel-arab conflict also care about other conflicts, though here there is still discrimination insofar as there is a bias toward highlighting western/global north injustice against non-western/global south (since israel is coded as white & western & northern, and the palestinians as colored & non-western & southern, the model applies in that specific case).

Huffington Post pundit Jason Linkins is being lambasted by Huffpo commenters for stifling legitimate criticism of Israel after he characterized a “tea bag party” protest sign criticizing US support for Israel as “anti-Semitic.”

The image pictures a bucket of money being poured into a blue funnel with a Star of David on it (the Israeli flag has a Star of David in the center), which in turn drips blood into a bottle where a person holding a Palestinian flag is seen drowning in blood. The text reads “Uncle Sam reminds you: Keep paying taxes. The ongoing extermination of Palestinian children can’t be done without your help.”

A few weeks ago Islamophobe Brain Sussman, a radio broadcaster in Northern California who has engage in Muslim-bashing hate speech on-air said this of Muslim finance and charity: “Islamic finance is about living within your means and helping the needy — unless they’re Jews.”

And now a story out of Yemen today: Muslim charity helps Jews celebrate Passover.

In a gesture of religious tolerance, the Muslim Charitable Society for Social Welfare (CSSW) provided Yemeni Jews in Amran with clothes and gifts on the important Jewish celebration on Passover last Wednesday.

“During Muslim celebrations, the society donates clothes and food,” said Mohammad Al-Qubati, the general manager of the CSSW. “Jews are part of Yemeni society and we are trying to reach all of society’s needy groups.”

The media defence of Israel by some Zionists is so vociferous, it borders on the clinically insane. The British exemplar of this phenomenon is Melanie “Mad Mel” Phillips, who recently (and ludicrously) accused Guardian blogger Andrew Brown of being anti-semitic (aren’t we all?), not for criticising Zionism or Jews, but for criticising a Christian nutter, the anti-Muslim pundit Dr Sookhdeo. The problem is, in mounting his own defence, Brown appears to have been touched by Mel’s brain-fever, insisting he is in “no doubt at all that if the Arabs around had a chance to massacre every Israeli between the Jordan and the sea, they would take it.” Well done Andy! Keep the spine supple and Mel off your back!! Even the Zionist apologists posting comments on your blog are playing it low key.

Interestingly Andrew fears the whole Israel/Palestine conflict will end terribly, perhaps with ethnic cleansing. Slightly back to front analysis, Andrew. It began with ethnic cleansing.

Mad Mel: 1 — Truth and Justice: 0.
