The security service’s limited resources meant extra checks were not carried out on the 7 July ringleader before the 2005 attacks, a report has said.

The Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) describes in detail what officers knew of Mohammed Sidique Khan before the suicide bombings in London, which killed 52 people.

The report will do nothing to prevent the calls for a full public inquiry into the attacks. Rachel North has more.

Government policy so far on this score has been based on a massive liberal lie: that the reason 7/7 happened is that we don’t respect one another’s cultures enough, so what we need to do is waste more of our children’s school hours on Identity and Diversity classes, and what you might call “teach white kids to feel guilty about the slave trade’” lessons. A watered-down version, in other wordas, of the glib multiculturalist – “hey all beliefs and values and traditions are equal and special: we do not judge” – “philosophy” that got us into this mess in the first place.

It is not even worth destroying James Littlepole’s ‘point’. I would just prefer to laugh at his stupidity.

A jury at Kingston crown court unanimously found Waheed Ali, 25, Sadeer Saleem, 28, and Mohammed Shakil, 32, all from Beeston, Leeds, not guilty of conspiring with the four bombers to cause explosions, after deliberating for eight days.

But two of the men were found guilty of attending a ‘terror camp’.

Rachel North calls for an independent inquiry into the bombings (so has one of the acquitted men). It is likely that some of the reasons the government doesn’t want an independent inquiry are:

1. Such an inquiry may expose the incompetence of the security services. As North points out the men who carried out the London July bombings were known to the security services; they weren’t ‘clean skins’.

2. The costs involved (already ~£100m has been spent on the criminal investigation). Then again, New Labour wasted enough money on one of the biggest frauds committed in front of our eyes, so several hundred million spent into investigating the worst terrorist attack in Britain is nothing.

3. Ultimately, there is probably little you can do about people deranged and stupid enough to think that blowing up a train or bus brings some kind of divine retribution on oppressors.
