Here is what they said about Muslims:

There’s more hostility to Muslims in the red states, so a Muslim candidate would have to bank on the blue states. But if he or she hewed closely to traditional Islam on matters like the role of women, he would never win California or New York. To go blue, he’d have to be a pretty secular Muslim—but if he were too publicly secular, he’d lose potential donations of money and time from fellow Muslims. Of course, many American Muslims are quite secular, so nobody knows what kind of Muslim could count on ethnic politics to be an asset, rather than a detriment. Which is why the first Muslim president may well be a black Muslim, not Arab or Persian, and it so happens the only two Muslims in Congress—let’s call them the top candidates—are African-American: Keith Ellison (D-Minn., raised Catholic) and André Carson (D-Ind., raised Baptist). Bonus prediction: In future years, look for a relatively secular politician to emerge from the large Iranian community in Los Angeles and achieve national prominence.

A hard core Christian can’t win the Presidency, much less a non-secular Muslim. I do think that a secular Iranian (especially a white/Persian mix person) could make it into the House or Senate, but the White House is a long way off.

Cut to:  The Muslim woman demanding an apology for the counter guy’s covert racist tendencies that, she believes, no one can see but her AND he ought to be ashamed of himself because he only treats her people like this and all the other people he treats like royalty.    

I hate that some Muslims feel that they must be perpetually angry

One of the things that may increasingly come to light is that Obama is not a traditional black American - meaning one (even if they are part non-black) that is the descendant of slaves - in spite of portraying himself that way early in his career with his association with Dr. Wright.

I suppose the question is “What is African-American”? My personal definition is one that is the decendent of slaves brought to the Americas - which would include people like Derek Jeter and Alicia Keys, but not Hakeem Olajuwon or Barack Obama. Perhaps “African-American” (or whatever you want to call it) should be an ethnic group

I have a few comments of my own here.

One thing I have noticed is the increasing tendency in many cities to say “Desi”, “Arab” or “Somali” and mean “Muslim” and vice versa.
