Complete transcript of Secretary Clinton (@HRClinton) remarks at #usislam forum in Washington DC. I thought her statements were candid and frank.
BTW the administration line here at the US-Islamic World Forum is that a renewed push in Israel-Palestine is in the works.

Oh you’re in DC already? If someone wanted to meet up, what would be the e-mail to reach you at?

“the right of the Libyan people to fulfill their demands and build their own future and institutions in a democratic framework.”
But not in Bahrain, of course.
It’s also amusing she was talking about universal human rights and democratic reforms in a forum hosted by Qatar.

oh she did mention Bahrain, and Yemen. And Qatar has a better record than most of the GCC – after all, it is home to Al Jazeera.
a lot of tangential cynicism I had – even about the OIC – has been rendered moot by my attendance at the meeting. There are good people here trying to craft real policy and they really do have support of their governments, especially Jordan and Qatar.
I have lots of notes and will try to post some later. The plenary session yesterday with john kerry and zbig was absolutely superb in fact. might be on the forums website…

I’ve been through that website, and there’s a lot to say here, but time is short now. However, I will say this was just a talking shop for the US and her Arab allies, with some token non-Arab liberals, and has nothing to do with the “Islamic world” or any such rubric (the speaker list was certainly ‘interesting’). This is fine if that’s your thing and there’s nothing wrong with the US promoting its interests, but I prefer to recognise it for what it is rather than gushing praise being heaped on the same sort of people who defend racist apartheid policies, support tyrannical regimes, cover up torture, and promote wars of imperial aggression.
