I have not been able to figure this guy out. Have heard his sermons several times but few of them are conflicting as far as I can tell.
What’s your take and connection?

Ghamidi is one of Eteraz’s mentors. that is how i met him. he is a neo-mutazhili.
i <3 the Mu'tazhili.
the First Obligation.
Ghamidi has been arrested by Musharraf, AND he opposes the hardline islamist fundies.
A lot of the right people hate him, and i adore him.
you probably see some of the same conflicts in me….al-Islam is a process.

There’s a lot I like from him, but I have also heard some disturbing things. It is like Zakir Naik, only more intelligent. I need to revisit, but I was turned off over something which I can’t recall right now, though I was enthusiastic about him at first.

Despite their ‘reforming’ credentials (though IIRC they reject that term), I don’t think they’re woolly liberals.
shams 10:43 pm on July 14, 2010 Permalink
i reject that term too.

Brother, the reason al-Islam doesn’t need “reform” is that Islam is an error correcting code…..it is a process that will self correct spacetime errors on its own.

I agree, remember =)

i was arguing on some blog, about why the Real would allow transcription and translocation errors in a sacred book….my answer was….the book is always being written.
shams 8:23 pm on July 16, 2010 Permalink
it is always being written…..outside time and outside space.
if i just had better words….

Return of the Mutazhili! Just like Return of the Jedi, but with more Islam.

I visited this website(www.al-mawrid.tv) today and liked it. it is very informative especially if you understand Urdu language.
shams 4:10 pm on July 14, 2010 Permalink |
yes, i wish i had urdu.
Would you like to translate some for us, Truth?
thabet 11:24 pm on July 14, 2010 Permalink |

shams 7:46 am on July 15, 2010 Permalink |
yes, im sorry brother…..i didn’t mean to imply they were ALL in Urdu.
Dr. Ghamidi has a lot of published work translated into english as well.
