Family members of Afshan Azad, one of the actresses in the Harry Potter film franchise, have been accused of trying to kill her. Per the BBC:

The father and brother of an actress who starred in Harry Potter have been charged with threatening to kill her at her home in Manchester.

Afshan Azad, 22, was cast as Padma Patil, a classmate of the child wizard in the film series.

Abdul Azad, 54, and his son Ashraf, 28, are alleged to have threatened her at her Longsight home. The 28-year-old is also accused of assaulting his sister.

While the BBC does not identify Azad or her family as Muslim, other sites do. I guess what astonishes me about this is that the men are out on bail until July 12, with the condition that they not contact Azad. I don’t know that I’d be so thrilled about that if I were in her shoes.
