Wikileaks reveals video showing US air crew shooting down Iraqi civilians (note what ‘really angered’ the Pentagon):
The footage of the July 2007 attack was made public in a move that will further anger the Pentagon, which has drawn up a report identifying the whistleblower website as a threat to national security. The US defence department was embarrassed when that confidential report appeared on the Wikileaks site last month alongside a slew of military documents.
And an update on the ‘hearts and minds’ campaign under Obama:
The release of the video from Baghdad also comes shortly after the US military admitted that its special forces attempted to cover up the killings of three Afghan women in a raid in February by digging the bullets out of their bodies.

The video is horrifying. What is perhaps even more horrifying is how many people are willing to stand up and defend what occurs in the video. What is even more horrifying than that is that those people do not seem at all upset about the fact that the military and the government has repeatedly shown a willingness to absolutely lie about such incidents and cover up evidence of their lies.

Where are the Obama-fanatics now?

I am increasingly unconvinced that electing mainstream political candidates to high office will make any kind of difference to FP. Most of the people who make the war are unelected and hang out in the upper echelons of power for their entire careers whether we like them or not. Any time you vote for a Dem or a Rep you’re essentially reelecting a system.
So perhaps the Obama fanatics are right and it really isn’t Barry’s fault…but that also means that electing Barry was at best a pyrrhic move rather than a victory for justice.

No doubt Willow.
Glenn Greenwald is excellent at making the point that one of the most obscene aspects of how the system works is that “liberals” will spend a lot of time harshly criticizing some republican policies and often use very stark language and present things as moral issues but then when their guy ends up basically carrying out the same policies with only cosmetic changes they are suddenly completely silent or even speak out in favor of such policies. The funniest is when Obama himself flip flops and then they have to aggressively argue the other side from what they were aggressively arguing a few months ago.

I am not blaming Obama for this incident, of course.
I am asking when, of even if, he will clean this sort of stuff up.

TO be honest, speaking as an Obama fanatic, Im not sure Obama will be able to clean this up in eth next few years. At best, if he gets a second term, he might be able to make headway on it then.
