Pakistani’s president Asif Ali Zardari: ‘Fighting for Kashmir’s liberation is Pakistan’s duty.’
Yeah, I support Kashmiri self-determination too, but the evidence so far is that Pakistan needs a totally different approach because Pax Pakistania – the policy of trying to destabilize all the surrounding countries in pursuit of some fantasy of regional hegemony – has blown up in their faces. At a bare minimum, they could try to do a better job of protecting the groups they train to ensure they aren’t colonized or hijacked to other movements.

Dumb thing for Zardari to say, although it be read in the context of his recent campaign make himself less unappealing to the Pakistani Public . The best thing to come out of a peace process with India for Pakistan would be the weakening of the influence of the Pakistan Army. Given the open secret that the Pakistan Army , to put it mildly, mistrusts the PPP it is in the interest of the PPP to try to resolve the Kashmir issue and refrain from jingoist rhetoric.
