Humiliated in front of the world: “The Anne Coulter of Pakistan” steps into the globalized media limelight.

On any day now I can find stories about Pakistan in media outlets in Europe, Asia and the US. The world is paying incredibly close attention and inevitably that was going to lead reporters to media figures like Shireen Mazari. The New Republic will soon be publishing an expose about Ms. Mazari written by a journalist colleague who formerly worked with her in Pakistan, and who reportedly is going to be dropping some “pretty damning evidence’ about her.

One of the observers at Pakistan Media Watch writes:

…it is quite disappointing that Pakistan’s media is being discussed with such negative tones in the rest of the world. We have Shireen Mazari and her band of paranoid conspiracy theorists and media Talibans to thank for this. As the author Mr. Crowley correctly says, “Lies have consequences.” When Pakistan’s media talking heads spread lies and gossip instead of proper reporting, it not only sets our country on a wrong path, it makes us look foolish to the rest of the world.

America’s right-wing media pundits have been embarrassing Americans on the global stage for years. Welcome to our world, there’s plenty of room in the ’shame circle’…
