What do you make of this?
The concession follows claims from some media companies that the search engine is profiting from online news pages.
Under the First Click Free programme, publishers can now prevent unrestricted access to subscription website.

I can only think of one newspaper I might pay money to subscribe to on the internet; since many news sites like the BBC and Guardian say they will keep content free, I wonder why anyone should pay if their aim is to look for news unless what they want is analysis and more feature length reporting.

I don’t think we’re at the end of this process the next evolutionary change in media. This is most probably just the opening volley in another round of renegotiation between content producers, distributors and consumers.
