Take heed Islamophobes, the American Caliphate is coming, one-small-backwater-town-at-a-time….
In WA, old mining town elects a Muslim mayor
By MANUEL VALDES (AP) – 1 hour agoGRANITE FALLS, Wash. — Granite Falls residents are suspicious of any newcomers, let alone a Muslim native of Pakistan who moved to this rugged, blue-collar mining town to open his own bar.
But 54-year-old Haroon Saleem has thrived, winning over the town with hard work and an easy smile. He has become so popular that, on Nov. 3, he won the mayor’s job in a landslide, getting 61 percent of the more than 800 votes cast — a result that residents say would have been inconceivable not long ago.
“In the old Granite Falls, there were no minorities. It was a rough, rough, logging town. Any outsider, whether a minority or somebody from Everett, was the same. It was very difficult to be accepted in this town,” said Sharon Ashton, a close confidant of Saleem.
Saleem said he was nervous about being accepted, and hired a white assistant manager to ease local concerns when he opened his bar in 2000.
“I was kind of scared, you know,” he says.
But he was embraced virtually from the start.
“That tells you how good and great of a community Granite Falls is,” he says with a slight accent. “They didn’t care … I am who I am, and people love me for that, and I just love people. People know that I am smart, I am a businessman. In the big scheme of things, all these qualities have made me, got me to where I am today.”

Lol he opened a bar? I don’t think the citizens of Granite Falls have anything to worry about. I hope Mayor Saloon Hareem–err, Haroon Saleem–does very well.

Islamophobe? What is that? Islamophobe implies an unreasonable fear of Muslims. But is it unreasonable when the Quran talk openly about such barbaric acts as forcing people to convert under threat of death, terrorism as a tool and so forth? That sounds like Satan’s edict not God’s. What will happen when 5 million potentially intimidated and fearful Muslims in this country, who, are ordered by their Imams to revolt against non-Muslims? Are we going to have to fight them in the streets and in our homes? Many Imams say so.

JLF, you’d be more funny if you weren’t so freaking nuts.

There is a special link for dialog with open minds such as yours here.
An Islamophobe is someone who has an irrational fear and hatred of Muslims. The reason for this condition may be one or a combination of the following factors: bigotry, stupidity, unjustifiable nativism, gullibility, genetic defects, fox news abuse, religious intolerance, dim wittedness, Joe Lieberman Syndrome and more. Consult with your therapist.

What is scary is a ideology that will kill thousands of people, thousands and thousands and thousands with their military might, and sh!t their pants when someone kills a few or a dozen. Wouldn’t you call that the height of hypocrisy. Please read this

If you want o get down to the nitty-gritty Buzz, then maybe the world of radical Islam should have thought twice before attacking us. Because there is no doubt whatsoever that we (the west and the USA in particular) are damned good at killing. If all this boils down to who can kill the most, Muslims lose. Is that the road you want go down?
buzz 2:20 pm on November 17, 2009 Permalink |
There you go! Now you are speaking some truth. Just add “innocent people” to the end of that statement. Or “innocent people who have oil, or land or something the US wants…”
Then you will have grasped all you need to know about terrorism.
Well done!

Thanks for snarky comment. Your reasoning is precisely why there is no open and honest dialog in the mainstream with Muslims.

This is called threadjacking. I will delete all further comments off topic. FYI

Which? The Muslim mayor or the person who thinks dialog with Muslims includes a run down?
abunoor 4:28 pm on November 17, 2009 Permalink |
Certainly both are, Buzz.
Although I wasn’t referring to JLF b/c I didn’t think that required commentary.

Oh. There are sadder things than that. He is very happy with his life according to the news. Alcohol, I would say, is low on the list of sins. Didn’t the Prophet say there was some good in it?
Weird world. Everything is sort of mixed up and the old traditional frame of reference is a little narrow. In Oakland, the Black Muslims came and trashed a yemeni market for selling alcohol. These are non-practicing para-criminal Muslims mind you. Scarcely a trace of Islam in the practice. So much so that my Pakistani friend would not believe me and wanted to check it out. So I dropped him at Your Black Muslim Bakery for a bean pie. He asked if the ingredients were halal. They said “What?”

At least he isn’t dedicating his life to the destruction of the West, as RevolutionMuslim or al-Muhajiroun are. Western Muslims are quick to judge fellow Muslims on drinking or opening up a bar but when it comes to preaching hatred and campaigning for Islamic law to replace the current laws, they are conspicuously silent. Why is it?
abunoor 5:57 pm on November 17, 2009 Permalink |
Really, Dan…no one criticizes Muslims who preach hatred? Really?

We just need a little more live and let live in the “Ummah,” IMO.
If you want to be a hijabi or niqabi – God Bless
If you want to model your appearance and behavior strictly on the traditions and legal rulings, Allah Hafez.
If you want to be a Sufi and not disturb your mind with politics, Allah Hu!
If you are a strict Shia or Sunni, Al Hamd…
If you are just a Muslim and you don’t want people judging you, why not?

Hilariously hypoctical: a moozlim opening a bar. Probably a strip club right next door, just like the one that pure and holy Nidal Hassan went to.
Dan 5:51 pm on November 17, 2009 Permalink |
How is it hypocritical? You’re too stupid to realize that not all Muslims share the same religiosity.
