Rifqa Bary back in Ohio; judge wants her phone, Internet use supervised.
The fate of Fathima Rifqa Bary is now in the hands of an Ohio court.
Rifqa — the teenage runaway whose story of Muslim-to-Christian conversion made national headlines in August — is back in her home state today, after spending three months living with strangers in Central Florida.
Tuesday’s move, confirmed by the Department of Children and Families, officially ended Florida’s emergency jurisdiction in Rifqa’s case.
Rifqa is now the responsibility of Franklin County Children Services, which is expected to place her in a foster home.

Here’s a transcript of the interview that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement had with Rifqa Bary back on Aug. 24. If you take the time to read it, you’ll see that she emphasizes over and over again the alleged “radical” connections of the Noor Islamic Center in Columbus. Additionally, she claims that the eye injury that brought her family to America was not caused by her falling on a toy, but by her father hitting her in the eye with something. Finally, my suspicions that she was heavily influenced by the teachings of Lou Engle are confirmed. He’s mentioned several times in the portion of the transcript I read. At the time this interview was performed, Bary had been away from home at least three weeks and presumably under the expert tutelage of the couple she met on Facebook who apparently paid for her ticket to Florida.
I’m still wondering why that couple, as well as the young man who drove her to the bus station, aren’t being indicted on charges. Let me just speculate that this would not be the case had Rifqa been named Kathy and she had converted to Islam and running off to Florida. Some religions are more privileged than others in this country.
