Last we saw of Zainol Abideen, the “protem President of the Muslim Bloggers Alliance” of Malaysia, he had been chased off line and shut his blog down after filing a police report against another Malaysian blogger for posting a crude anti-Islam Youtube link, prompting a posse of the blogger’s friends to denounce Abideen from various websites and blogs. The notoriety that Abideen created for the Youtube smear probably caused it to be viewed more widely than it otherwise would have been.
Abideen first came to attention here at Talk Islam in January when I posted about his racist rant against the Rohingya. When someone challenged him on his own blog for his comments he wrote:
Do not live with a blinkered view that when I defend Islam and Muslims, I do so without taking into consideration what type of ‘Muslims’ are worth defending.
Muslims who are superficial ‘Muslims’ aren’t included in my defend list.
I emailed him to request he come to Talk Islam and explain his comments against the Rohingya. He never responded.
Well, he is back online now and I came across this blogo-mercial he did for his herbalist. Far be it from me to cast aspersions on the righteous narrow path a brother walks, but I couldn’t help but be alarmed at the superficial coverage of that red slit-side skirt on the Chinese woman sitting next to him. Definitely not on the halal defend list!

He is such a nasty man. His posts are rampant with the usual sins of judgmentalism, holier-than-thouness and the like. Classic example: of the recent unexpected death of filmmaker Yasmin Ahmad, he says that God will judge her for her being bad and doing bad things – right before he says any differences he had with her don’t matter now that she died. Talking out of both sides of your mouth much, jerkface?

from your second link: >>A loose group of liberals, counter-jihadis and friends of the non-Muslim blogger have since blasted Abideen with criticism and counter-accusations, even calling him a “terrorist” and a “kafir,”
Wow, now someone who posts crude anti-Muslim propoganda and his defenders are called “A loose group of liberals, counter-jihadis”. Now apparently it’s to okay to throw out insults like terrorist and Kaffir as long as they come from “Liberals” and “counter-jihadis” (Like Jihad watch readers ?) and you apparently become a liberal by default as long as you post anti-Muslim stuff.
By the way this doesen’ t mean I am defending the other blogger.

I would imagine liberals would have been interested in this over the free-speech issue.
If we’re going to worry about what “counter-jihadis” do with what they can read on Muslim blogs, then we all might as well shut our blogs down, since honest communication will be impossible.

Who cares dude? So what if he said some things about Rohingya? Why should Muslims defend other Muslims when they are in the wrong? If Rohingyas are being leeches then it is normal to hold resentment against those who live off the fat of the land while biting the hands that feed them. Hmmmm….reminds me of the leeches from New Orleans who resettled in Houston only to live off of benefits and contribute to the skyrocketing crime rate at the time.
Let’s stop with the need to defend other Muslims, especially when they are wrong. I cannot defend Muslims who do not do a damn thing to make their lives better, and the blogger does not have to either.
