Denis MacEoin, academic turned novelist and author of several negative ‘research’ reports on British Muslims (one of which was later withdrawn due to its use of confabulated evidence), has published a new study of Sharia courts in Britain in conjunction with the think-tank Civitas. Predicatably, the report has provoked hysteria in the right-wing media. Denis MacEoin is basically using his (real) credentials as an expert in pre-modern ‘heterodox’ Islamic movements and his previous career as a lecturer in Islamic studies, to push reports about Muslims in contemporary Britain.
