sigh.. man named Muhammad kills a US soldier in Arkansas.
The high rate of conversion to Islam in American prisons means that the rate of crimes committed by muslims is going to increase. This is simply crime committed by criminals, but it will be spun as the Grand Jihad by the usual suspects.
UPDATE: a definition of terrorism upon which we can all agree.

Redstate is swooning over this story. Yesterday they only had one post on the Tiller murder; today they have three up already on the Arkansas shooting. Violent muslim criminals are like Republican catnip.

I’m curious. Where did you get the assumption that Mr. Bledsoe Muhammad is a jailhouse convert? Cuz he’s black? Seriously, you “went out on a limb” based on what? An American convert Muslim does something violent, he’s black, he just be a prison convert from a poor inner city background?
As details emerge about him, I think you’re going to learn that he was from a solid middle class background, and converted to Islam while in college. Like many converts, he was pressured to quit college, get married, make ‘hijrah’ to some overseas country to ‘get the knowledge’ and apparently somewhere along the line, went totally bazonkers, no doubt in small part thanks to the fiery and hateful rhetoric against Americans and non Muslims that is prevalent throughout the umma. All in five years of being a sincere and eager Muslim. A sad story, but one made by Muslims, not something the Muslim community can smugly distance themselves from by saying ‘He was violent already, he was inner city, not someone WE can relate to’.
I’m seriously disgusted by this. You mention the gulf between Asian and black Muslims – which is truly a gulf between cradle Muslims and converts – but you’re illustrating it perfectly with this post and the one on City of Brass.

unfortunately, due to social injustice and ongoing economic oppression, African Americans are a disproportionate fraction of the prison population. One of the ongoing problems that we as a commmunity as a whole face is that prisons are a breedig ground for more violent interpretations of Islam. Thus given that this man chose to engage in violence – against US troops, which is a significant target in itself – its a reasonable assumption that he is a convert from prison rather than the middle class.
I meant no commentary on black muslims as a whole, though i can see how you could misread my post that way, especially since i wrote in frustration after reading the news.
in general though if we are going to ignore the racial component to these issues then we are going to have a harder time addressing it. Extreme sensitivity to anyone pointing out race contributes just as much to the gulf between black muslims and non-black muslims (note: not just Asian as you stated).

Yeah, we should completely ignore his islamic conversion and blame the Christian faith. Makes sense to me, but then how will we ignore those that are atheists, agnostics, and all other forms of non-religious thought amongst our population when they kill unceremoniously?
He’s a killer and he claims to be Muslim. That’s all I need to know.
