Islamic Internet vigilante blowback.
The earlier mentioned racist ranter against the Rohinghya, whose name is Zainol Abideen, apparently got himself into a bit of trouble in the world of Malaysian blogging in December that prompted a posse of bloggers to launch a campaign of vitriol against him.
Abideen, it seems, saw himself as a self-appointed vigilante among Malaysian blogs. In December, he filed a police report against a Malaysian non-Muslim blogger named Surind Raj for defamation of religion. Raj had posted a short, crude anti-Muslim Youtube video that condemned the Hajj specifically and Islam in general. A loose group of liberals, counter-jihadis and friends of the non-Muslim blogger have since blasted Abideen with criticism and counter-accusations, even calling him a “terrorist” and a “kafir,” and Abideen has shut his blog down.
The absurdity of harassing someone for posting a youtube video that is available to the whole (uncensored) world just amazes…even more so when you think of how the Internet these days is full of anti-Muslim screeds, baiting and taunting…
