Arab News is reporting that the Taliban have control of Buner district and have now moved into the Shangla district and Gadoon Amazai in the Swabi district, where the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) is located. The GIKI Facebook page has pictures that show the beautiful location – phrases like “God’s country” come to mind, but scenes of men and women mixing like this, especially wearing that type of women’s clothing, may soon disappear. You have to wonder whether having the Taliban in the area – or in control of the area – will suppress enrollment and investment.
