Anthony Julius is a moron:

The 20th century marked the destruction of the imperial system, either through brutal overreach (Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union) or relatively peaceful decolonisation (France, Britain, etc).[my emphasis]

This is an absurd claim.

France never gave up a number of its colonies without a fight. Hundreds of thousands of dead in Indochina (aided and abetted by the British) and Algeria are facts that should slap Julius across his stupid face.

And then there is the myth of Britain peacefully departing from its colonies — except people in Kenya (including Barack Obama’s grandfather), Malaya, Aden and Ireland may recall an altogether different version of events. This should be the second thappar across Julius’ face.

Then again, I shouldn’t be surprised that is was Anthony Julius who made these absurd comments.
