Anyway, seems rather interesting choice of designers – though I prefer Foster to Hadid.

I imagine that in a couple of decades we will have the Mall of Mecca, with a fully-enclosed central area for Hajj just like Camp Nick at the Mall of America. You can eould even pay to have animatronic robots do the safa-marwa run for you. And tawwaf could be in little electric carts that zip around at a precisely-controlled speed for maximum effeciency.
Or maybe we could have Mecca Mountain, where you have concentric roller coasters around the Kaaba, in the dark with psychedlic neon lighting.
Maybe the Saudis should just declare the Kaaba haram and replace it with the Bean from Chicago’s Millenium Park.
