rod dreher talks about the implicit conflict between religious values and same-sex marriage. i think he’s right here, and as a practical matter i’m betting that religious resistance is going to be a lagging indicator that will be overruled and delegitimized by the cultural elites. religious liberty ends where human rights begin, and many in the cultural elite have basically decided that gay marriage is a human rights issue. so it’s only a matter of time…. (public opinion polls show that like abortion the general populace is renorming its views to align with the elites even if there is a lag)
