After all the hoo-hah, a Muslim Arbitration Tribunal (“sharia court”), whose pronouncements have “binding legal status”, has been seeing 10-15 cases a month since last December.
Most (though not all) of the fuss following Rowan Williams’ lecture was nonsense given that “under English law people may devise their own way to settle a dispute before an agreed third party”.
