Ms. Sherry Jones, she of all things tolerant, who courageously “refuse[s] to succumb to racism,” writes about her anguish over having her book Jewel of Medina pulled.
I think Willow’s comment says it all.

The book’s prologue was sent by Jones to the blog “Smart Bitches, Trashy Books.” After reading it, I feel vindicated in my original suspicion that this will be poorly written trash. By sending it to that blog, looks like Ms. Jones might even agree with the “trashy” label.
Lemme ask something - is it the idea of fictionalizing the Prophet (pbuh)’s life that’s bothersome, or is it that its so poorly done? I personally would be far less bothered by a work of true literature that purported to tell his story, but considering how detailed the seerah is already, I would wonder about the point of it.

Shahed, have you tried contacting the author?
shahed 2:12 pm on August 12, 2008 | #
She contacted me a while back to offer a copy of the book, and we’ve been in touch often during the past week. I’ve scheduled an interview.

PS Shahed I think your piece should be in print somewhere. Have you tried Christian Science Monitor? They’re good.
