It’s interesting how Ahmed portrays it as his decision. I wager it was more of an ouster, or rather a scapegoating. At any rate without fresh leadership, CAIR will slide increasingly into irrelevance. I’ve defended CAIR many times for the chapters’ work but te national leadership was a total joke, obsessed with issues of Ummah rather than concerns specific to American muslims. I am glad to see a shakeup but I’d like to see who replaces him before declaring that CAIR will meaningfully change.
I nominate Shahed Amanullah as Chair. We shoudl start an Internet Draft movement.
Thanks, but no thanks. I prefer to be a freelance activist, working with (not for) the major orgs on my own terms. I don’t think CAIR would want my baggage, anyway
