    The zebiba used to be the mark of an elderly Muslim man, the fruit of a lifetime’s devotion, but it is increasingly seen on the faces of young Egyptians.

    Praying on those straw mats in the Cairo mosques would get you that forehead groove pretty quickly. I started to get a mark and I didnt even try (can’t cover that baby up with foundation), nor did I go to the mosque a lot while I was there.

    But I don’t doubt that some people do it on purpose though; I’ve heard some people try to burn the skin to make it appear darker. Sheer nonsense.

    May be some people do it on purpose to get that mark .
    Riyaa (ostentation) is displeasing to Allah (SWT) but I dont most would do it deliberately.
