Looks like Barack Obama took action regarding the hijab gaffe only after Rep. Keith Ellison confronted him, somewhat heatedly, behind closed doors at a Congressional Black Caucus meeting.

Why you stirring-up trouble, Shahed? For shame. The story is exactly the same. Some of Barry’s peeps got all PC and Ellison called and put the smack down on it.

When someone “gaveled” Ellison, BHO supported Ellison, realized what his staff had done and apologized to the concerned parties.

This is a staff issue. You can’t really hold Obamarama totally accountable for the clumsiness of his handlers.
He repaired what was broken by staff.

Let him get elected and THEN see how he treats Muslim Americans. Unless you support McCain.

To be fair, Obama dos seem to be putting Muslims at arms’s length more than is warranted. There’s plenty of other examples:

Whoa - I totally agree that this was an issue of volunteers stepping out of bounds, but what Obama is responsible for is the way he corrects it. If someone deserves a phone call apology within 24 hours for being called “sweetie”, then these two women deserved the same. The point is that he didn’t consider doing it until challenged by Ellison.

The good news is that Obama is capable of correcting himself gracefully when called on it. I have always believed that he is a reasonable person who is willing to look at a situation and make the right call when faced with the reality of a situation. I hope the same holds true when he faces the reality of Israel/Palestine, as opposed to the nutjobs at AIPAC.

I won’t dignify the McCain comment w/a response, especially after the crap I get from some Muslims for supporting Obama.

    is BK not being sarcastic?

Thanks Razib. Help from unsuspected corner.

No offense meant Shahed. It comes down to Obama, McCain and those who refuse to vote. I try not to assume for anyone but myself where support goes.

As an Obama supporter, let’s let the man make history one step at a time. We all know why he steps lightly around muslims.

In office will be a different story.
    You’ll see.

I know someone is clicking on that McCain ad to the right :)

I think the main issue should be brass tacks: in which states might muslim voters be important? and how much is the “average muslim voter” paying attention to these issues?
