Friday poll! How are the chores split up at your house, and why?
Aziz isn’t allowed to answer because Aziz is Superdad, and if he says anything we’ll all be grumbling “He has a beard and he cooks” whenever our husbands complain about helping out, forever and aye.I do just about everything housekeeping-wise: shop-cook-clean-organize-dolaundry. Husband takes out the garbage and the recycling if I remind him. This is mostly out of habit–when we got married I didn’t want to seem like the hapless khawagayya so I became a domestic overachiever. (Ie, no maids. Those of you who know what it takes to scrub down an apt and cook for 10 in a third-world country can appreciate what this means.) Husband, though very egalitarian, was too wise to complain about this arrangement, and here we are.

Grocery shopping we do together. I cook (because husband can barely turn on microwave), and do the laundry, which I don’t mind. I do the cleaning too, but he vacuums because I hate doing that. And he’ll dust when I complain enough, and he takes care of the car. I guess its kind of an even-ish split, but I do more - [I say that because he probably won't read this :)]
You are super woman - cleaning those apartments and cooking for 10 people? I can barely make myself cook for two sometimes. I suggest you hand husband the vacuum - they look good doing that!

well, I cant take credit for cooking - my supermom sends us frozen home-cooked food in tupperware containers, so I am a Microwave Master. And I also have Rice Cooker Fu.
cleaning we outsource to a cleaning lady. I know my limits.

There goes the Superdad mystique.

We’re usually a very equitable split. My hubby cooks at least one evening meal per week. He takes care of the dishes over the weekend, and he entertains our son in the evenings. He also vacuums whenever I ask, takes care fo trash and is the one who cleans our bathrooms. (I do the main child rearing and daytime cleaning.)Except right now he does pretty much everything once he gets home from work bc I’m nine months pregnant.
Good thing he knows how to cook, and he’s good at it too!

I live alone. So I do everything.
Biased question.
