How a non-Muslim hospital chaplain helped me out. The part I left out of the story was that I first requested a Muslim chaplain, and a salafi couple showed up in the hospital room, grilled me about my religious observance and encouraged me to take Arabic classes at their mosque. Just what you need when your four-week-old son is in the hospital! I’m sure there are better Muslim chaplains out there. Know of any?

Yes, Rehana Sadiq, she is our local hospital chaplain and thanks to the NHS, the closest thing we have in Brum to a halal female Muslim cleric. Hurrah.

That is symptomatic of the general lack of compassion and kindness that people get from many “religious” Muslims who feel that they must always be judgemental and empasize form over substance

heheheh totally reminds me of this time this random munaqabbah in the restroom at a mall scared my baby daughter and made her cry while I was making wudhu in the sink. then while my daughter was still screaming she had the nerve to tell me that I was washing my head insufficiently for my wudhu to be correct. GAH!
I hope your baby is doing okay now.
