may be, but its not considered a negative portrayal in modern bollywood – they are usually the heroines.

That was true in older movies – purab aur paschim for example.
I don’t think it is true for today’s movies.
But yes after after the heroines get married within the movie, she shifts to sari etc except for the song sequences.
