India seems to be reverting to a feudal system, where rich nobles live atop high fortresses, surrounded by slums of the peasants below.
The disparity between rich and poor in India is why it will never be China’s equal. What worth is India’s democracy? The picture tells a thousand tales indeed:

reverting? i saw the article too. i think the main issue is that 10% instead of 1% of indians are middle class (the numbers are just to illustate, i’m not being serious). that still leaves 90% who are not, so the difference is stark then when it was just 1%.
but the comparison with china is right i think. the poorest indians are poor in a while that no chinese are today. china invested a lot more more in the past few decades in things like basic literacy and health.

This is a frightning picture on so many levels.

Why is it frightening ?
I live with my parents in a place where daily 8 hour power cuts are the norm. No electricity - no running water either.
Having moved to gurgaon for a job recently I find these areas awfully convenient . No worring over electricity and water or house being robbed when you are out.
