Leave it to our yellow press to write up a land dispute as religious violence. Upper Egyptians rely on their land for their livelihood–there would have been violence no matter what the religion of the people involved.

this is probably true. what disturbed me most about the story was that the MONKS HAD GUNS!!! (at least that is how i read the story; you can’t have an exchange of gunfire w/out both sides having guns…right?)….wtf?!?

Man, I wouldn’t mess with any Saeedi–Coptic, Muslim, monk or otherwise…the govt stopped trying to take their guns away years ago…
