    Polygamy in Black-American Muslim families in Philly. Some positive stories for a change, thank God.

    Frankly I’m not sure how you can treat both wives equally if the second marriage is not legal, and the second wife doesn’t have the advantages that come with a legally recognized marriage. Of course the state could just get out of the business of marriage, but until that happens, how can you treat them both with “equal fairness” as required in 4:3? (I also wonder why the reference to orphans gets left out in current discussions of that verse).
