an excellent question, thab, much better than “what are the excesses of liberalism” which is the only question that concerns conservatism.
I’d say that we need to define liberalism first, though. If we are talking about American liberalism as practiced in the US and well-represented by the Democratic party mainstream (minus the progressive left wing), then I can answer, but I will need to dwell on it a bit today.
with my definition above in mind, I’d argue that the limits are an unwillingness to assert moral axioms. Liberalism as it is practiced here is all about fairness, instead of defining moral absolutes and then holding fast to them.
