Controversy arose in 2007 when several conservative Muslim bloggers voiced concern that the nomination process was unclear, and accused the nominating committee of being biased in favor of liberal and nontraditional Muslim bloggers.
What controversy? I don’t call moaning about being left out because you’re not good enough a ‘controversy’. Traditionalist-orientated blogs have cleaned up regularly (e.g. Sunni Sister) — and there is nothing wrong with that.

Thanks for the reminder Willow - I do need to make a few edits.
Thab, I agree that it was a tempest in a teacup, but still, it did happen (and garnered some attention). It was enough to force Shahed and I to institute changes in response (well, not forced, so much as .. persuaded). Traditionalist blogs do dominate the awards but thats because they tend to have better organized readership. These are growing pains for the BCA that I can live with. I think a separate section with more detail would be quite useful on the BC page at wikipedia

Or the BC awards page (it’s separate but linked to the BC main article). It’s woefully short at this point.
