no disagreement on Hirsi Ali - but there has been a noticeable evolution over time with respect to Manji. I used to lump them together (not unfairly, IMHO) but they are definitely no longer on the same page, and I think Manji now “gets it” that she has more credibility (and common cause) with mainstream muslims if she works from within rather than take Hirsi Ali’s maximal outsider approach. Manji now has my (wary) respect.
Nah. She doesn’t get it. She might one day, but she doesn’t yet. I have yet to hear a single original thought come out of her mouth, and the last interview I saw with her she appeared woefully overprivileged and uninformed. (Why don’t Egyptians protest injustices against religious minorities? Whyeeeee? Gosh, I don’t know, maybe because there’s *no freedom of assembly?*) And that hair…mercy. 1992 is so over.

I wonder if we can get Manji here?

Both women irritate me. Or rather, the way they are fawned over irritates me.

Still, she isnt where Hirsi Ali is. Thats a low bar I guess, but I take what I can get.

a big part of Hirsi Ali’s appeal is telegenic.
she’s like the OJ Simpson of apostates.
cauc features thru a glass darkly.
Wafa and Irshad just don’t appeal to the visual cortex.
