You may have heard of the Quilliam Foundation, a UK Muslim group made up of former extremists that is dedicated to promoting moderation in Islam. Some people like them (and get flak for doing so). Others aren’t so sure groups like Quilliam are the answer.

First of all, William Quilliam is such a cool name.
Second, I’m with Mr. Sardar. Ed Husain and his ilk have done nothing constructive except leave and join an organization in which they had no major role to play to begin with. I will be highly surprised if the majority of British Muslims line up behind them.
There was a hilarious satire series called “The Islamist” done by a blogger (I think Mr. Moo) which applies perfectly to these people. Anyone have that link?

Since the Quilliam Foundation have adopted Abdullah Quilliam as their namesake, it is worth looking at his views.
